Concept: Astrid Brünner (Greifswald), Susanne Gabler (Wismar), Dr. Marie-Katherin Zühlke (Greifswald)
The exhibition presents the results of a collaboration between microbiologist Dr. Marie-Katherin Zühlke and artists Astrid Brünner and Susanne Gabler. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the current situation of marine waters and encourage a more conscious approach. The artistic-scientific research relates, among other things, to the content of the DFG-funded transregional project "Carbon sequestration at Å resolution - CONCENTRATE" at the Universities of Greifswald and Bremen. The cooperation partners approach the exhibition theme using different media and refer in their works to the complexity of transformation processes in marine ecosystems. The exhibition pieces have been created in an ongoing process of interdisciplinary exchange since 2023 and include works from the fields of print, painting, WordArt and performance.
Microbiologist Marie-Katherin Zühlke is a research associate at the Institute of Pharmacy at the University of Greifswald and a visiting scientist at the Station Biologique de Roscoff.
As an interdisciplinary artist, Astrid Brünner researches phenomena such as perception, resonance and communication.
In the immediacy of her word art, object art and participatory art actions, the artist Susanne Gabler offers reflections on the issues of our time.
