Based on the tragedy "Faust I" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe / With Dominique Horwitz / Directed by Torsten Fischer
A Euro-Studio Landgraf production
In every century, the over 500-year-old life story of Dr. Faust has retained its unbroken topicality: the constant drive of the modern world, acceleration, the compulsion for constant self-optimization, more mindfulness, more climate protection, the church in a deep crisis.
a deep crisis.
"The cursed here and now seems worthless to the scholar Heinrich Faust," writes director Torsten Fischer about his adaptation. "Driven by an insatiable desire, he wants to expand the boundaries of teaching and science, indeed of his own self and the world, to overcome fantasy and reality, to suspend time, to put mind and body into a frenzy."
Dominique Horwitz, honored by the INTHEGA Board of Directors in 2023 for outstanding and long-standing achievements in German-language guest performance theater, is known for his role in the TV multi-part "Der große Bellheim" (1991) and for his appearances in "Tatort". In 2025, "Herr Teufel Faust" received the INTHEGA Prize "Die Neuberin". The citation reads: "The visually stunning and modern adaptation of the classic Faust story with actor Dominique Horwitz impressed with its intense acting, clever direction and surprising stage design."
