Hohen Brünzow Castle invites you to the “Castle Autumn” event—a reception featuring an extraordinary film experience on Saturday, October 24, at 6:00 p.m. Live Cinema Performance on Lotte Reiniger A visual spectacle of light, shadow, puppetry, and lively dialogue about the making of the first feature-length animated film and its director.
First, we’ll raise a toast to the Schlösserherbst and enjoy the bounty of fall in the salon. The filmmaker will be in attendance, offering an opportunity to chat with her. Following the interactive, live film screening in the dance hall, starting at 7 p.m., a delicious pumpkin-coconut-lime soup with bread from the Hofbäckerei will be served.
Kathrin Rothe will present her latest film, “24 frames/sec.,” in the form of a lecture performance. This film commemorates the animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger, who 100 years ago screened the first feature-length animated film, “The Adventures of Prince Achmed,” at Berlin’s Volksbühne, thereby making film history.
In Kathrin Rothe’s interpretation, three figures come together: the author, the fact, and the quote, which engage with the artist’s biography, pose questions, come into conflict, fill in the blanks, and debate perspectives. As an animated film director and experimental live-cinema artist, Kathrin Rothe combines puppetry with live projections. Prepare to be surprised by an unusual, entirely new format.
