The Streu estate, which is a listed building, was owned by various noble families from the end of the 13th century until the former manor became the bourgeois property of the Volckmann family in 1899. During the "Third Reich", Streu was a meeting place for the military resistance against Hitler and the Nazi regime. Despite being recognized as a "victim of fascism", Hans Volckmann was expropriated in 1945. The estate was then used to house refugees. As part of the land reform, it was distributed to new farmers, who joined together to form the LPG "Einheit" Streu in 1961. During the GDR era, the estate fell into disrepair despite continued agricultural use. This process accelerated after 1990 due to vacancy and vandalism. In 2001, Gisa and Hans-Peter Reimann acquired the ruinous estate with parts of the park and renovated the complex, which now contains five individual monuments, over the following years. The property is now used for residential purposes and as a veterinary practice.
