The Madsow manor house is located ten kilometers east of Wismar, not far from the Baltic Sea, nestled in the northwestern Mecklenburg terminal moraine area. It was built in 1781 as a late Baroque 13-axis half-timbered building with a high crippled hipped roof on a fieldstone base. The individual monument has been largely preserved in its original baroque substance. Unlike many other manor houses, it was not remodelled during industrialization. The last owner of the estate, Alfred Vermehren, only had the south façade fitted with a representative front wall by the architect Ernst Prinz.
