A guided meditation on the Schifferkirche as a spiritual space of comfort, followed by a concert featuring violist Julia Wawrowska.
The Schifferkirche—a spiritual space of comfort: Under this title, a guided meditation kicks off the evening at the Schifferkirche in Ahrenshoop. In the special stillness of the thatched wooden building, it invites you to find peace, let the place work its magic on you, and prepare yourself for the concert that follows.
Following this, violist Julia Wawrowska will perform works for solo viola. Her program ranges from Johann Sebastian Bach’s solo suites and sonatas to Paul Hindemith’s striking solo movements, as well as compositions by Grażyna Bacewicz and other 20th-century works. The Polish musician, who studied at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and has performed at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, here explores the solo repertoire for her instrument across its full tonal range.
The combination of meditation and concert makes for a special listening experience in one of the most remarkable church spaces on Fischland-Darß-Zingst. The Schifferkirche, with its airy, wood-paneled atmosphere and the four ship models—“Faith, Love, Hope, and Peace”—provides the perfect setting for this event—for guests seeking tranquility and for all who appreciate chamber music in its most intimate form.
