A 2019 film by Mika Kaurismäki - "Starke Stücke" event series
In search of an old Finnish friend, Chinese chef Cheng travels to a remote village in Lapland. Upon arrival, no one there seems to know his friend, but the local café owner, Sirkka, offers him a place to stay.
In return, Cheng helps her in the kitchen, and soon the locals are surprised by the delicacies
of Chinese cuisine. Despite cultural differences, Cheng quickly makes new friends
among the Finns and wins Sirkka’s heart in the process. When his tourist visa expires,
the villagers hatch a plan to help him stay...
