Marion Petznick reads from “Echo of the Past”: A novel about Rosa, old love letters, family secrets, and the courage to reshape one’s own life.

Between the vastness of the Danube and the hustle and bustle of Berlin’s Schönhauser Allee lies a life that Rosa had almost forgotten. On a river cruise, she meets Lucas, who throws her secure world into turmoil. He hears the nuances in her silence—unlike her aloof husband, Hendrik. But the decisive journey begins after her return.

Yellowed love letters lead Rosa to Schwerin, to a half-sister she never knew existed, and to a father who harbors a long-kept secret. In *Echo of the Past*, Marion Petznick tells a story of newfound freedoms, the power of memory, and the courage to reexamine one’s own history in order to make room for love and self-determination.
