Eight artists from several European countries are exhibiting works in Lübz that explore identity, change, and shared perspectives.
At the Kunsthaus Lübz—Center for Circular Art, eight artists from various European countries are coming together for a special exhibition project. Under the title “Treffpunkt Kunsthaus Lübz,” a multifaceted dialogue is emerging between different cultural backgrounds, forms of artistic expression, and personal experiences.
The project was initiated by artist Claudia Maria Ammann, who lives in the Lübz area. Fascinated by the possibilities and atmosphere of the Kunsthaus, she developed a desire to bring the space to life together with fellow international artists. From the initial invitations, a vibrant network of eight artists gradually took shape—artists who embraced this collaborative project with openness, curiosity, and a desire to work together.
What unites the participants is their attempt to understand the world and respond to it artistically—poetically, sensitively, and often experimentally. Seven of the eight artists now live in a country other than the one in which they were born. As a result, questions of memory, identity, language, nature, transience, and social change flow into the exhibition in very different ways.
The works on display range from sculpture, installation, and painting to video and light art, as well as photography, artist’s books, and site-specific projects. Some works are being created on-site specifically for the exhibition, making the Kunsthaus itself an active part of the artistic process.
Claudia Maria Ammann works with large-scale primal rock and combines her sculptural practice with participatory approaches. Together with the Norway-based video artist Verena Scholz, she has been developing light-and-stone installations for years, in which digital projections and massive stone forms interact with one another. A new collaborative work is also being created in Lübz—one that can not only be viewed but also physically experienced.
Magda Jarzabek, an artist originally from Poland, explores spaces and structures as well as patterns of human thought and action through painting, printmaking, photography, and film. The starting point for her presentation in Lübz is an extensive series of watercolors.
Alja Piry, who grew up in Slovenia and now lives in Austria, explores language, multilingualism, and urban landscapes in her artist’s books, text-based drawings, and video essays. Her work is created on-site at the Kunsthaus.
The sculptor and installation artist Jacek Karlowicz from Norway presents “Tears on Rain,” a sensory installation about transience and memory loss. In her paintings, pastels, and textile works, Ellen Karlowicz Rishovd explores the effects of color and space, transforming used fabrics into poetic visual spaces.
Austrian artist Edith Spira explores the theme of memory through painting, drawing, and photography. Her works oscillate between fragment, trace, and dissolution, offering the audience new perspectives on time, perception, and history.
Anke Zürn, who lives in Switzerland and is a chemist in addition to her artistic training, explores materials and their histories. Her focus is on natural raw materials, traditional materials, and the question of sustainable artistic production processes.
To accompany the exhibition, individual artists will offer workshops, thereby fostering further exchange with visitors. The fourth exhibition in the LUPINALE 2026 series at “Treffpunkt Kunsthaus Lübz” is conceived not only as an exhibition but also as an open space for encounters—for art, conversation, and shared experiences.
