What is the state of queer rights and social acceptance in Europe? Together with rat+tat e. V. Rostock, we’ll take a look at queer history, current challenges, and the situation on the ground. Join us in discussing freedom, equality, and a diverse Europe!
An interactive discussion on queer history, human rights, and diversity in Europe. In cooperation with rat+tat e. V. Rostock
How free are we to love whom we love, to define our own identity, and to live openly as we are? The history of queer people in Europe has been marked by persecution and exclusion, but also by courage, solidarity, and the fight for equal rights. Despite significant progress, the realities of life for LGBTQIA+ people still vary considerably today. After all, legal equality does not automatically mean social acceptance.
The European Integration Center Rostock (EIZ) and rat+tat e. V. Rostock invite you to an interactive discussion on November 27, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Together, we will explore the development of queer rights in Europe and examine what human dignity, freedom, equality, and non-discrimination mean in everyday life.
We’ll take a look at historical persecution, the struggle for equality, and current challenges in Europe. Rostock’s queer history also plays a role: a working group on homosexuality was founded here as early as 1985. Today, initiatives like rat+tat e. V. advocate for queer visibility and support.
How can we protect equal rights and strengthen social acceptance? Your questions, experiences, and perspectives are warmly welcome. We look forward to an open exchange and an engaging discussion!
