Marcus H. Rosenmüller takes aim at the sensitivities and the associated political convictions in a provincial tennis club.
Germany 2025, Director: Marcus H. Rosenmüller, Length: 100 minutes
based on the play of the same name
DA: Hape Kerkeling, Christoph Maria Herbst, Friedrich Mücke, Fahri Yardim
The story is triggered by an overly well-intentioned idea. Melanie, who has moved to Berlin with her husband Torsten, wants to bring progressive ideas from Berlin to the backward province. So she suggests - no, she insists - that the club should buy not one, but two new barbecues as part of a jointly decided
modernization project. That way, if Erol - the only member of Turkish origin at the tennis club - wants to enjoy a barbecue, he no longer has to resort to a grill, which has become "haram" due to the cooking of pork. However, Erol is embarrassed by the over-excited suggestion and repeatedly insists that he doesn't need it. But it's not about him, it's about the principle and the discussion escalates.
