An evening full of warmth, music, and new encounters: In Greifswald’s coziest café, the venue’s unique atmosphere blends with the melancholic, romantic sounds of Ola Jas. Over mulled wine and pastel de nata, the concert invites you to leave everyday life behind for a few hours and immerse yourself in a musical world that blends folk, jazz, and the soundscapes of Europe and Latin America.

Ola Jas, born in Warsaw in 1992, is a singer, violinist, and songwriter. Her musical training began at the Karol Szymanowski Music School in Warsaw, where she studied violin. She then attended the renowned Henryk Majewski Jazz School, where she focused on jazz vocals. In 2019, she earned the Colour Strings certificate as part of an international music education course. In January 2018, Ola Jas released her first EP, which was created in collaboration with the Portuguese musician João de Sousa, who also served as producer. Together, they then worked on her debut album, which was released on Valentine’s Day 2020. In her music, Ola Jas blends diverse cultural and musical influences: jazz, Brazilian and Portuguese music, sounds from Portuguese-speaking Africa, world music, and contemporary folk. Added to this are elements of the Slavic musical tradition and that distinctive melancholy that lends her compositions a unique atmosphere. Her songs are poetic, contemplative, romantic, and at the same time full of creative energy. The violin and her voice blend into an intimate soundscape in which the boundaries between genres and musical cultures blur.

Thus, the concert evening becomes a musical journey connecting Warsaw with Lisbon, Brazil, and beyond—and thereby embodying precisely the openness and cultural diversity that polenmARkT stands for.

Look forward to a special evening with Ola Jas—somewhere between folk and jazz, melancholy and joie de vivre, Poland and the world.
