a tribute in music and lyrics
Erik Satie (1866 - 1925) was one of the most bizarre musical geniuses at the turn of the 20th century.
His iconic piano miniatures "Gymnopédies" and "Gnossiennes" are still catchy tunes to this day. Less well known are the life and witty, ironic prose of the French musician, which are the focus of this text-music collage.
Johannes Gahl (piano) and Frank Dittmer (narrator) present the exceptional artist Satie, who died a hundred years ago, as a composer and writer who moved between Parisian bohemian hangouts and working-class suburbs, between a dazzling cabaret existence and the struggle for new forms of musical expression. In the process, he himself gets to speak and be heard in many different ways...
Johannes Gahl lives as a narrator, pianist and composer in Berlin. With his "fairytale piano", he enchants even the youngest children during musical performances.
Frank Dittmer lives as a speech and spoken word artist in Havelland. He is known throughout Germany with his podcast "wrobel" as the voice of the twenties satirist and contemporary chronicler Kurt Tucholsky.
