Israel at War: An Eyewitness Account. Lecture and discussion with author Erez Majerantz (Berlin)
“Perhaps I write because I believe the world can become a better place” Erez Majerantz
The war raging in the Middle East—which began long before October 7, 2023—is also having a profound impact on the population of Israel. The rocket attacks from Lebanon and Iran, the ongoing mobilization of reservists, and the active combat operations of the Israeli armed forces have drastically altered civilian life in Israel.
Israeli philosopher and author Erez Majerantz experienced and survived the rocket attacks in Tel Aviv most recently in February and March; he will speak about this experience and the war’s impact on people and, in particular, on cultural life in Israel.
Moderator: Martin Redeker (Greifswald)
