Ingress Mission Day Schwerin: see the city with different eyes
Imagine a second, digital world hidden beneath the surface of the old town and around the majestic castle. Ingress turns this vision into reality. But what is behind this game that attracts thousands of people to the streets worldwide?
What is Ingress?
Ingress is a global augmented reality (AR) game. Unlike classic video games, the action does not take place on the sofa, but outdoors. The players ("agents") use GPS to navigate to real sights, monuments or works of art, which act as "portals" in the game.
Mission Day is a special form of this game that focuses on discovery. In cooperation with the city, special routes (missions) are created that take participants to places that are not included in any standard travel guide.
What you can expect:
Interactive sightseeing: you follow a digital route that takes you to Schwerin's architectural highlights and hidden backyards.
If you complete a certain number of missions, you will receive a digital award in your profile - a kind of modern hiking stamp.
Taking part is easy:
All you need is a smartphone and the free Ingress app. Mission Day is the perfect opportunity to try out the principle of "gaming meets fitness". It's not about speed, but about the fun of movement and the fascination of experiencing Schwerin as a huge, interactive playing field.
The one-off event will take place all day on May 2, 2026.
Come along and let the enthusiasm infect you!
