Reading & contemporary witness talk
The composer and pianist Wolfgang Nicklaus (born 1956) grew up in the GDR in Brandenburg and fell into the clutches of the Stasi at the age of 21 after speaking out in favor of a united Germany. His nephew, the writer and poetry slammer Karsten Lieberam-Schmidt, has written about his uncle's experiences in impressive short texts.
The reading will be followed by a discussion with Wolfgang Nicklaus, in which he will talk about his time in prison, his experiences with the Stasi and the consequences of his traumatic imprisonment
