Overthrow with a swing of the hips / Lieder recital
Can we dance at demonstrations, as the playwright Heiner Müller demanded on November 4, 1989 on Berlin's Alexanderplatz? Can singing together be a tool in the fight against circumstances? Which musical sparks of our revolting youth still have the power to ignite us today - and which ones have already burned out?
This song recital - whose title is inspired by a quote attributed to the US peace activist Emma Goldman - takes a look at feelings as a motor for change. With a variety of different sounds, instruments and vocal ranges, the three-piece ensemble embarks on a journey through the age of raised fists, chanted slogans and swaying hips. In doing so, they dress up well-known popular hits, sunken gems and classics of rebellious songs in sometimes completely new guises. An evening about the danceability of revolutions - from Bertolt Brecht to Karat and Manfred Krug to Queen!
