"An American in Paris" A Tribute to Joséphine Baker and George Gershwin
As part of the “Hörwelten” concert series, the ATARAXIA Cultural School invites you to a special summer evening filled with music, history, and atmosphere.
Together with the Astoria Salon Orchestra, they will present a musical tribute to two figures who left a lasting mark on 20th-century cultural life. With its program, the Astoria Salon Orchestra explores the fascinating life stories of Joséphine Baker and George Gershwin. This musical tribute not only commemorates Baker as a celebrated stage star but also her role as a resistance fighter, civil rights activist, and extraordinary individual.
An evening full of stories, music, and the spirit of the times—spanning Paris, jazz, revue, and American sounds.
The event is presented in collaboration with Keppler Productions (ArteTV) and is supported by NDR Kulturförderung Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
