a musical-literary portrait by Ursula Kurze
Erich Kästner (1899 - 1975) is one of the most widely read German-language authors. For once, the focus of the evening is not on his world-famous children's books (such as "Emil and the Detectives"), but on his life and work, especially his poems.
Ursula Kurze will perform Kästner's poems musically and present them in her touching and stirring interpretations: the rather apolitical verses - cheeky, slightly frivolous, sometimes wicked - and his often very political texts - uncomfortable and socially critical. But they are always entertaining, full of biting humor, described by the poet himself as "therapy for the soul".
Ursula Kurze grew up in Cottbus, where she received her first musical training. This was followed by studies at the Weimar University of Music, where she majored in concert guitar. She then studied singing and acting in Leipzig and Freiburg i. Br. She now lives in Dresden as a guitarist, singer, actress and composer.
