Reading with Dr. Irmtraud Gutschke
The journalist and literary scholar Dr. Irmtraud Gutschke spent nine months in conversation with Hermann Kant as his most trusted interlocutor. In her book "Die Sache und die Sachen", Gutschke conducted many interviews with Kant, some of them self-critical, about his life, his writing and his political convictions. She has published several highly acclaimed books about him and his literary estate in order to examine his work in the field of tension between the GDR past and present.
