The Neubrandenburg Art Collection cordially invites you to the opening of the exhibition "Im Hier Im Jetzt. Karlheinz Wenzel" on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, starting at 5:00 pm. The exhibition will show his works from the collection and his estate until March 1, 2026.
Karlheinz Wenzel (1932-2025) was one of the most influential artists in the Mecklenburg Lake District and Neubrandenburg. He created intensely colored paintings of northern German landscapes and cities, catchy portraits and large-scale murals and reliefs. With his complex compositions, he translated his experiences of nature, observations and encounters into paintings, gouaches, prints and drawings with a quick brush and rich colors. For decades, Wenzel enriched the art scene in Neubrandenburg and the region like no other with his artistic work and mediating nature - as a painter, teacher, mentor and person. The Neubrandenburg Art Collection is dedicating a special exhibition to Karlheinz Wenzel, who died in October 2025, with works from the collection and his estate.
The exhibition marks the start of the "Im Hier Im Jetzt" exhibition series, which focuses on artists, their polyphony and cultural identity.
