Learn to play the handpan from November 27–29. Rhythm, melody, and improvisation, plus a time for reflection with Deva & Mandakini—featuring meditation and a sound journey. Space is limited.
From November 27 to 29, Deva Parkin and Mandakini invite you to the Gut Saunstorf monastery near Wismar—for a weekend dedicated entirely to the handpan and spiritual reflection.
“The handpan is simple yet multifaceted:
Sometimes it lets you relax deeply, other times it draws you completely into the rhythm—
Groove and meditation in one instrument.”
For two days, everything revolves around rhythm, melody, and improvisation: You’ll learn how to express yourself playfully on your instrument, play your first original melodies, and gain the technical background that will deepen your understanding of the handpan. Whether you’re just starting out or already have some experience—you’ll find your place here.

The quiet atmosphere of the monastery provides the perfect setting: morning meditation, a shared sound journey, and a fire ceremony give the weekend its own unique flair. Add to that delicious organic food and the chance to connect with people who share the same passion. A weekend that’s all yours.
You’ll be guided by Deva, who, through Maladeva , combines music with her healing work and the support of inner processes—and who calls the Gut Saunstorf monastery home —as well as by Mandakini, a handpan artist from Berlin: with over 25 years of percussion experience and a handpan player since 2012—his music blends rhythm, dynamics, and groove into rich tapestries of sound.
Participation fee: 340 €; a handpan (D-Kurd) can be rented on-site for 30 €.
Accommodations and meals at the monastery are booked separately.
Spaces are limited; the registration deadline is November 10.
