The true story of Florence Foster Jenkins I Comedy by Peter Quilter
Miss Florence Foster Jenkins loves music and is the socialite of the megacity New York in the 1940s. In her head, she may enchant the world with her angelic voice, but in acoustic reality, the beams and the audience from high society bend with laughter when she belts out her arias. But criticism and doubt cannot harm the eccentric, strong-willed lady. Devotedly supported by her partner St. Clair Bayfield and pianist Cosme McMoon, she allows the audience to share in the blessings of her musicality. And so, on an October evening in 1944, thousands stand outside Carnegie Hall on Seventh Avenue, eager to get their hands on a ticket to see the first lady of the "sliding scale" live on stage.
Peter Quilter's great comedy is a touching tribute to a woman whose zest for life, self-confidence and love of music are absolutely infectious.
