Mecklenburg Switzerland is a land steeped in fascinating history and numerous traditions. Numerous churches and church ruins, castle ramparts from the Slavic era, old castles and tower mounds once inhabited by knights lend the region a special charm. Characteristic are also the ancient, gnarled trees that stretch their branches towards the sky, as well as hidden burial mounds and megalithic tombs in forests and fields. Small lakes glitter like eyes in the landscape and contribute to the mystical atmosphere.
Over the centuries, Mecklenburg Switzerland has developed a magic all of its own, inspiring people to create imaginative legends, fairy tales and stories. Many of these stories have been passed down orally, only a few have been written down. Field names often remind us of these tales, many of which have long been forgotten. Nevertheless, there are people who have collected and preserved such stories - one of them is the retired pastor Eckart Hübener from Rambow.
On the Friday before Midsummer Night, when the shortest nights of the year begin, Pastor Hübener presents his collected stories in this mysterious place in the "Desert Church" in Domherrenhagen near Ulrichshusen. Midsummer night has always been regarded as a mystical day, which is why many fantastic tales surround this night in particular. With his unmistakable manner, Mr. Hübener will take the audience into the magical world of Mecklenburg Switzerland and surprise them.
Admission is 5 euros per person, children under the age of 12 are welcome to listen to the stories free of charge.
The event will take place outdoors on Friday, June 19 from 9 to 11 pm. In the event of rain, it will be moved to the old vicarage in Rambow.
