Fucking fucking beautiful unfolds a youthful roundelay about first times in ten stories that are connected by thin red threads. It's about shame and courage, about insecurities and discoveries, about beautiful experiences and painful boundaries.
With her young characters, author Eva Rottmann achieves the feat of telling the story of growing up directly, bluntly and in all its contradictions. Between intense physicality, quiet poetry and unvarnished reality, a kaleidoscope of experiences emerges - full of curiosity, excessive demands, happiness and pain.
The short story collection Fucking fucking beautiful was awarded the 2024 Luchs des Jahres youth book prize by DIE ZEIT and Radio Bremen and has just been nominated for the 2025 German Youth Literature Prize. The text is now being premiered at the Volkstheater Rostock.
