Tour 2026
When Frank Schöbel starts the new tour "Der nächste Frühling" with his band in April 2026, it will be exactly 64 years since the versatile artist began his career as a professional musician. Back then, Frank was hired as a singer for the Leipzig orchestra Heinz Müller, and two years later - in 1964 - he released his very first single, "Looky, Looky". Then things went from strength to strength.
He scored his first hits
in the
1960s and his participation in several music cinema films ensured full movie theaters. The films "Heißer Sommer" (1968) and "Nicht schummeln, Liebling" (1973) enjoy cult status today.
Just like his big hit "Wie ein Stern" (1971). By now, Frank Schöbel had become the most popular entertainer in the GDR. The special thing about it: his popularity was not limited to the small country, he was one of the few musicians from the East who caused a sensation throughout Germany. For example, "Wie ein Stern" was placed in the Media Control charts and in the RIASSchlagerparade, where the song was number one for several weeks. Frank Schöbel also knew how to inspire in other ways. Whether as a radio presenter with "Franks Beatkiste", at the opening ceremony of the 1974 Football World Cup in Frankfurt/Main, as an entertainer in many television shows or as the composer and singer of the very first children's pop LP in the GDR "Komm wir malen eine Sonne" - he took his young listeners just as seriously as his adult audience. Certainly one of the reasons for his success to this day. Frank Schöbel also proved his versatility with the LP "Weihnachten in Familie", the best-selling record in the GDR. By the 1980s at the latest, he had expanded the pop genre. The new songs were poppier, and Frank also made it clear that the word attitude is in entertainment. He was one of the first signatories of the so-called Rockerresolu/on and his 1989 hit "Wir brauchen keine Lügen mehr" took on a political dimension.
Even in reunified Germany, fans of several generations remained loyal to Frank Schöbel and more are still coming today. Numerous new albums were released, countless tours were completed, he had his own TV shows and appeared in TV series such as "In aller FreundschaH". He also wrote several books and a play. The charismatic singer has repeatedly received awards, from the ten-time "Television Darling of the Year" in the GDR to the "Golden Hen", the MDR Television Prize and the Amiga Pla/n Award to the "One of the
Best" for lifetime achievement in Silbereisen's ARD show "Schlagerchampions" in January 2025. Today, Frank Schöbel can look back on more than 600 songs, around two-thirds of which he has written himself.
His new concert tour "Der nächste Frühling" also benefits from his natural charisma and authenticity, as well as his ability to interact with the audience as equals, which have been the common thread of his success story for over six decades. Together with his highly musical and passionate band colleagues, Frank Schöbel will perform both more recent songs, such as those from the albums "Unzerstörbar" (2023) and "Das Leben ist schön" (2026), as well as his many well-known classics.
