Film: “The Secret Life of Stag Beetles”
Every year, something special happens along the Polish Oder River. A dead oak tree in a clearing is not only a gathering place for migratory birds and a rutting ground for roe deer and red deer, but also a hotspot for the stag beetle, the largest beetle in Central Europe. For just a few weeks each year, the adult beetles emerge into the light. They draw the strength they need to reproduce from the sap of the oak trees before they die.
