Jürgen Brandt, an enthusiastic aerial photographer, flew over Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with his cameras more than 20 times in chartered small aircraft between 2008 and 2023.
His aerial photo archive now contains over 4,000 images, a selection of which he will be showing at Neustadt-Glewe Castle from June 14 to August 17, 2026. His photographs range from Dömitz Fortress to the Island of Usedom. Towns and villages, different landscapes, national and landscape parks or even small refuges such as the nearby Lewitz can be seen.
Jürgen Brandt is a qualified prehistorian. His professional activities also included aerial archaeology. He spent his childhood and youth in Lenzen a.d. Elbe in Brandenburg and in Raduhn in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim. Jürgen Brandt studied structural engineering at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences (formerly Neustrelitz) and prehistory and early history at the Martin Luther University in Halle. He is married and lives in Schwerin.
