New exhibition at the Kunstmuseum: "News from Hiddensee. Island of Women Painters"
From April 25 to July 19, 2026, the Kunstmuseum is presenting the exhibition "Neues aus Hiddensee. Island of women painters". For the first time, the focus will be exclusively on the female artists of the Baltic Sea island of Hiddensee, whose works and living conditions will be highlighted. The aim of the exhibition is to pay tribute to the artistic work of these women painters and at the same time to convey the special conditions under which their works were created. A large number of works will be on display, some of which have never been shown in public before. The exhibits come from both private collections and museum collections and provide new insights into the island's artistic heritage.
The art museum is hosting several events to accompany the exhibition:
- Opening on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 4 p.m.
- On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 6 pm, there will be a discussion in the exhibition with art collectors and lenders under the title "Collecting art - a passion!"
- Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 11 a.m. Finissage with guided tour with curator Annette Winter-Süß
