An artist's evening with Axel Neumann (known from "Die 7 Zwerge"): An impressive journey into inner visual worlds between art, silence and perception.
Celebrity in the Baltic resort of Rerik with a very special evening!
Axel Neumann, known from the movie "The 7 Dwarfs", invites you to a special evening that combines exhibition and lecture in an impressive way. The audience will experience him up close while his pictures are projected onto the wall and he talks about their origins.
The starting point of his work is an extreme self-experiment: three weeks of darkness, silence and isolation, to which Axel Neumann deliberately exposed himself in 1992. The complete deprivation of external stimuli triggered an intense flood of inner images - images that remain with him to this day and which he has been tirelessly putting down on paper ever since.
"During the three weeks, I learned to listen to myself," says Axel Neumann. In order to capture his visions, he developed his own painting technique using cartridge fountain pens and acrylic paint. In the meantime, he has created over a thousand works - and the process is far from over.
What may seem extreme today was a widespread practice in ancient times: conscious introspection. In many cultures, going into the darkness was seen as a way of learning to see, deepening perception and finding answers to central questions in life. Modern neuroscientific research also confirms that the withdrawal of external stimuli often evokes intense inner images.
An evening between art, meditation and insight - inspiring, unusual and deeply moving.
