Franziska Pietsch is a violinist who inspires with uncompromising expressiveness, emotional depth and an extraordinary artistic signature - always in search of the musical core beyond mere virtuosity. This artistic consistency and stylistic clarity make her one of the most distinctive voices of her generation.
She has an intensive musical partnership with pianist Maki Hayashida, which is reflected in numerous duo programs and award-winning recordings. Her discography testifies to stylistic diversity and interpretative depth - for example in the recording of the Prokofiev violin concertos with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under Cristian Măcelaru (German Record Critics' Award 2018) or in the duo album Fantasque with Josu de Solaun (ICMA 2021).
Her latest solo album Tides of Dance was nominated for the German Record Award and celebrated by critics as "sparkling, idiosyncratic and full of character".
Our Easter concert opens with expressive drama with Beethoven's Violin Sonata in C minor, a work of great depth and emotional intensity. This is followed by Chausson's "Poème", a highlight of French late Romanticism: an expressive, floating, poetic tone poem for violin that oscillates between fervent passion and tender rapture.
After the interval, Brahms' Sonata in G major unfolds a wide-ranging, light-flooded world of sound - lyrical, warm and full of quiet intimacy. A program that spans powerful tension, poetic sensitivity and luminous melody in a captivating musical arc.
