A Low German evening with Gerlinde Block on 13.03.206 at 19.30 in the Landhaus Schwerin
Kirch Stück: On Friday, March 13, 2026 at 7.30 p.m. we will be hosting Gerlinde Block at the "Landhaus Schwerin", An der Chaussee 28, 19055 Schwerin-Medewege . She has been known in the Low German scene for years and this is her first appearance with us.
Growing up on a farm in Lutheran, Low German was present every day. After studying to become a qualified medical teacher, she spent 40 years guiding nursing students in theory and practice. For the last ten years, she has worked as a non-medical practitioner in a practice in Lübz.
"My hobby of Low German has accompanied me throughout my life to a greater or lesser extent".
She offers Low German city tours as "Duchess Sophie" in Lübz, co-founded a Low German café, organizes Low German evenings and has been heard and seen on NDR several times.
"Dor kümmt doch ümmer wat dormang": from birth to the end of our lives, one mishap or another happens to us. The best strategy against this is humor! Martha Müller-Grählert, Felix Stillfried, Paul Warncke, Richard Dohse and Wolfgang Mahnke told stories about this. Whether at birth, baptism, in kindergarten, at school, in love, at the doctor's, at work and even at funerals, things always go wrong. Even cleaning is not always easy and that's why cleaning lady Gerlinde tells of the mishaps, although there are also some reflective moments.
Admission is free; at the end of the event we collect donations to cover the costs of the event and to finance building work in and around the church of St. Georg zu Kirch Stück.
This event is sponsored by the district of Nordwestmecklenburg and the Ehrenamtsstiftung.
