Early summer in the Papenhof garden - two days to pause, discover and enjoy.
On June 13 and 14, 2026, the garden of the Museum Papenhof is taking part in the Open Gardens Day and invites you to visit from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission to the garden is free on both days.
The Papenhof garden is much more than a green oasis in the middle of Barth. An area that has grown and been cultivated since the Middle Ages reflects the different eras of the house: from the medieval medicinal herb garden of the brotherhood of priests to a baroque parterre from ducal times to the romantic bourgeois landscape garden of the 19th century. Old rose varieties, rare shrubs, an archaeologically excavated and faithfully reconstructed fountain and art objects invite visitors to browse and marvel.
On both days at 12 noon, a free guided tour through the garden offers deeper insights into the garden history of the Papenhof and the importance of Barth as a former garden city in Western Pomerania. The guided tour is accessible without prior registration.
Those who simply want to enjoy the early summer are also welcome. A small café provides refreshments and there is plenty of time to chat, look around and pause for a moment. An excursion for all those who are looking for something special in everyday life.
