From March 12 to May 31, 2026, the Neubrandenburg Art Collection is showing works by the artist Dana JES in the cabinet exhibition in the series IM HIER IM JETZT.
Under the title "Fluglinien", the artist is showing ceramic objects, drawings and spatial installations that have emerged from her artistic exploration of the perception of time and the spaces within it. The exhibition will open on Wednesday, March 11, at 5 p.m. with texts by Stralsund writer Silke Peters.
Dana JES' works move between drawing and sculptural thinking with and between these media. Drawing as a way of working with and in pictorial space, as a basis for translation into spatiality, leads to an installative practice in which the elements are placed in relation to one another. The material ceramic with its various states - liquid, brittle, powdery, solid, soft, hard - is at the center of the artistic exploration and reflects the artist's interest in movement, fluidity and change. Forms of reduction, the exploration of the objects' relationships to the surrounding space and the resulting changes in perception as well as the processual nature of the themes addressed are essential to her work.
For the exhibition at the Kunstsammlung Neubrandenburg, Dana JES revisits the theme of "lines of flight", which originated in the artistic project "Apis mellifera". Based on observations of the spatial and temporal levels of the life of the European honeybee, its sounds, body and movements, the artist arrives at graphic and sculptural works that ultimately lead to an installation in space.
About the artist
The works of Dana JES, who was born in Röbel an der Müritz in 1973 and studied fine art under Antje Scharfe, Karl Fulle and Martin Neubert at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle an der Saale, reflect the landscape of the Lake District as well as the encounters and experiences she had during artistic residencies in Denmark, Russia and the USA, where she learned new techniques and perspectives. Today Dana JES lives and works in Grünow, Mecklenburg. Her works have been shown at international exhibitions and competitions - including the International Ceramics Biennale Cluj (2019), the Westerwald Prize of the Ceramics Museum Westerwald (2019) and the 5th Triennial of Silicate Arts in Kecskemet, Hungary (2017). In 2024, the art collection of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern acquired works by her. Dana JES was most recently awarded the ROSTOCK Scholarship (2023) and the Kunstfonds Foundation Working Scholarship (2022).

The Kunstsammlung Neubrandenburg's IM HIER IM JETZT exhibition series offers an institutional platform for contemporary artists from Neubrandenburg and the Seenplatte region. It invites a dialog between tradition and the present, between local and cosmopolitan, between archive and living creation. IM HIER IM JETZT is produced in collaboration with the invited artists and the MSE Visual Arts Archive.
