Sandra Hüller in a comedy based on a true story
Maren (Sandra Hüller), Robert (Max Riemelt) and Volker (Ronald Zehrfeld) have been best friends since childhood and live in Halberstadt in Saxony-Anhalt. One day in July of the summer of 1990, they accidentally discover that the former GDR's missing millions have been stored in an old mine shaft near them. They decide to steal the money and meticulously plan every step to put their plan into action. The money is no longer worth much, but it can still be exchanged for certain goods and also for Deutschmarks. But the closer they get to their goal, the more they have to ask themselves whether it is worth the risk and what the consequences of their actions will be.
