A trumpeter and a saxophonist drive through the vast landscape of northern Brandenburg.
Fields, meadows and forests - lots of nature with only a few people. One of them wishes he could play in a big band again. The other has long dreamed of organizing a big band. One can organize, the other has contacts. And so emails are sent and phone calls are made.
Then, in February 2024, musicians from the most hidden corners of the Prignitz, Ostprignitz-Ruppin and even Mecklenburg Lake District regions flock to the old Konsum building in Blandikow for a first rehearsal. And it seems as if everyone has just been waiting for it to finally start. There are students, professionals and pensioners, all experienced amateurs. A few seasoned professional musicians also join in.
During the first rehearsals and performances, it becomes clear that the joy of playing and high musical standards are combined, and the band grooves from the very beginning with arrangements ranging from swing and Latin to funk and fusion to rock and pop, played in a classic big band line-up with vocals.
