Even the Tagesschau news program deemed the “Mokka-Milch-Eisbar” worthy of an in-depth report. The 2026 reopening of this trendy hangout for young people in the ’60s was a huge success.
Berlin threw a wild party to celebrate. Photographers, cameramen, and journalists turned out in droves for the premiere of the “Mokka-Milch,” which had been shut down after the fall of the Berlin Wall and is now back in business. Showtime began with Thomas Natschinski, the composer and founder of Team4, the first Beatles cover band in the GDR. That’s where the sound of the “Mokka-Milch-Eisbar” was born, and the party guests cheered loudly for the composer and his unforgettable cult song.
Musically, the atmosphere sizzles with the cult hit “Mokka-Milch-Eisbar” and the best songs of the ’60s. You’ll hear new tracks from Natschinski’s latest CDs, “501” and “Piano Moments”—extraordinary music that the rock poet and former classical music student, one of Germany’s finest pianists and harmonica players, has developed out of his love for many musical styles. On the literary front, Christine Dähn presents the rich band life of Team 4 with stories and anecdotes from the ’60s, when rock music was just getting started and the political establishment was left reeling when they saw the cheering female fans in their miniskirts and the guys with their mushroom cuts. Christine Dähn, author, journalist, and star host of DT64, will keep the crowd entertained with stories from those wild years. She’ll also share details about her new book, *The Day the Butterflies Danced*, a novel about the bittersweet and tender power of love.
Tickets are available through the Stralsund Tourist Office, online via Reservix, and at the box office.
