Works by Penderecki, Kodály, Kreek and others with Vokalensemble VIP, Dresden | Robert Schulz, organ, Greifswald
The vocal ensemble VIP from Dresden is indebted to its training tradition of the Dresdner Kreuzchor, the Leipzig Thomanerchor and the boys' choir of the Jena Philharmonic. Their multi-layered repertoire and their special vocal artistry have received prestigious awards
With the concert "Between the Worlds", the eight singers embark on a musical journey that is both thought-provoking and moving.
The composers are exemplary:
Krzyszkof Penderecki (1933 - 2020) belongs to the Polish avant-garde with his unmistakable musical language. He shaped contemporary music with his sonoristic compositional technique. His advocacy of Christian ideas and humanity goes hand in hand with his musical work.
The Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály (1882 - 1967) worked with Belá Bartok. He devoted himself to the scientific study of his large collection of Hungarian folk songs and passed this knowledge on.
Cyrillus Kreek (1889-1962), the Estonian composer, studied trombone, music theory and composition in St. Petersburg. He worked as a lecturer, professor and choirmaster in Tartu and Tallinn. Like Kodaly, he devoted himself to the study of his collection of over 6000 folk songs.
All the other composers in this concert also guarantee a panorama of human emotions: multi-layered, touching and transcending cultural and aesthetic boundaries.
The Greifswald organist Robert Schulz accompanies the VIP ensemble on the Buchholz organ.
This concert is a pearl in the 750th year of the Nikolaikirche.
Admission: 10,00 €, (7,00 €)
