The close links between art, science and society in Pomerania in the early 19th century are made visible through selected personalities
Which people influenced Caspar David Friedrich along the way?
The traveling exhibition is dedicated to the Pomeranian circle of friends and acquaintances of the important Greifswald painter.
Selected personalities such as Johann Gottfried Quistorp, Friedrich August von Klinkowström and Ludwig Gotthard Kosegarten illustrate the close links between art, science and society in Pomerania in the early 19th century.
At the same time, the exhibition builds a bridge between Caspar David Friedrich from Greifswald and Philipp Otto Runge from Wolgast. The two were not only connected by their origins, but also by a common intellectual environment, from which Romanticism received decisive impulses.
