Closing Event for the Traveling Exhibition “The Blue Hour in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern”

September 17, 2026, 5:00 p.m.

Rostock District Gallery, Bad Doberan

After nearly two months filled with encounters, conversations, and shared artistic experiences, the exhibition “The Blue Hour in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern” comes to a close with a festive closing event at the Rostock District Gallery in Bad Doberan.

Artist Wolf Herondis (Wolfgang Hube) cordially invites all art lovers to experience the exhibition once more in a special atmosphere. The 36 large-format oil paintings depict Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the fascinating light of the Blue Hour—that brief moment between day and night when landscapes, cities, and historic buildings take on a unique radiance.

The series was created based on more than one hundred photographs provided by people from all regions of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Thus, each painting not only tells of the beauty of our state but also of an extraordinary community project that uniquely connects art and home.

During the closing event, Wolf Herondis will reflect on the traveling exhibition’s journey so far, share stories of his many encounters with visitors, and offer a preview of the cultural project’s next stop.

Following its run in Bad Doberan, the exhibition will be on view in Velgast, continuing its journey through Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The goal of the traveling exhibition is to bring people from all regions of the state together and to allow them to experience the special atmosphere of the Blue Hour as a unifying cultural experience.

The closing event offers one last opportunity to speak with the artist in person, learn about the background of the individual works, and experience the exhibition in its entirety.

Every exhibition tells its own story. The closing event in Bad Doberan marks the end of one chapter, but the journey of the “Blue Hour” continues. Soon, the next window onto the quiet, luminous moments of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will open in Velgast.
