Movie about two crooks who grew up like brothers but then became enemies. Robert De Niro plays both sides.
USA 2025, Director; Barry Levinson, Length: 120 minutes FSK: 16
DA: Robert De Niro, Cosmo Jarvis, Debra Messing, Kathrine Narducci and others.
In Barry Levinson's new film based on true events, De Niro plays two roles, but not brothers, but former best friends who have become adversaries. Frank Costello and Vito Genovese grew up together in New York as the sons of Italian immigrants and rose through the ranks as mafiosi in the haze of the "Alto Knights Social Club" during the Prohibition era. But different goals and methods divide the two: while Costello focuses on running his business as cleanly as possible and ideally being seen by the outside world as an honorable and spendable member of society, Genovese tends to use much more brutal methods.
