Reading at the opening of the Jewish Culture Days 2025 in Rostock
"I closed my eyes. My heart was pounding for minutes. I was living in a castle in France, the food was delicious, a Pierrot set the table and cleared it again. I had gained two brothers and six dogs in an overgrown park." Christian Berkel tells the novel of his childhood and youth in a captivating and moving way: a story about being torn apart, setting out and cutting the cord - and also a tribute to literature, friendship and love.
Christian Berkel, born in West Berlin in 1957, is one of Germany's best-known actors. His debut novel "Der Apfelbaum" and its sequel "Ada" were celebrated by critics and audiences alike.
