Resplendent trumpet fanfares, powerful timpani rolls, elegant melodies, and rich choral singing fill the grand St. Mary’s Church, inviting you to relax and enjoy the moment.
About 180 singers, along with the orchestra and soloists, will be on stage when the world-famous “Hallelujah” resounds with timpani, trumpets, and vocals—to mark the end of the festival weekend and the German-Polish Cultural Summer, the Pasewalk and Güstrow choirs, along with the Vorpommern Early Music Orchestra, will create a truly festive atmosphere at St. Mary’s Church.
The Pasewalk and Güstrow choirs are a musical home for around 120 singers and rehearse weekly for their performances under the direction of Julius Mauersberger (Pasewalk) and Martin Ohse (Güstrow). Most recently, the two choirs joined forces in 2025 for a performance of Johannes Brahms’s “German Requiem.” For the past six months, the two choirs, soloists, and the orchestra have been preparing intensively for this major performance to mark the city’s anniversary.
As the ensemble in residence of the German-Polish Musicians’ Network, the Vorpommern Early Music Orchestra assumes artistic and organizational responsibility for concerts and cultural education projects. This top-tier ensemble is the largest freelance orchestra in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and one of the few ensembles in the state specializing in historical performance practice.
It is composed of a selection of renowned soloists from the early music scenes in Germany and Poland and performs at festivals and concert series throughout the state and beyond.
