Reading to Mark the 25th Anniversary of the Hospice Association in Ribnitz-Damgarten
How did our ancestors deal with the topics of dying, death, and mourning? What rituals did they have? Or why were the deceased tied down or had peas placed in their coffins? Funeral orator and art historian Dr. Anja Kretschmer answers these and other fascinating questions with her heartwarming book presentation on funeral culture, held at the Damgarten Library to mark the 25th anniversary of the Hospice Association. She takes us back to a time when the end of life was a matter of course and families consciously said their goodbyes. Despite this topic being so difficult for many and often considered taboo, “the black widow” offers a conciliatory perspective on what lies ahead for us all.
