Brass Band MV invites you to the royal spring concert "Kings and Queens" in the Nikolaikirche Rostock
Rostock, April 12, 2026 - The Brass Band MV is visiting the Hanseatic city of Rostock with a spring concert. With the new concert program "Kings and Queens", the brass band will be in the Hanseatic city for the third time and will perform on Sunday, 12 April 2026, at 4 pm in the Nikolaikirche Rostock.
Under the musical direction of Timo Hänf, the young ensemble will perform a program that - inspired by the atmosphere of the British Last Night of the Proms - illuminates royal themes in a variety of musical facets.
The program unfolds a panorama of royal soundscapes in which opera, rock, intimate remembrance and spiritual symbolism meet. To open the program, the band takes you to the majestic Alps in the canton of Valais in Switzerland with Valaisia Variants, while "Who wants to live forever" is a musical monument to the legendary rock band Queen in the form of an enchanting duet of trombone and flugelhorn. Hymn for Diana", dedicated to the "Queen of Hearts", forms a touching point of calm and lends the concert a moment of quiet dignity. Finally, the powerful original work "Turris Fortissima" opens up a spiritual resonance chamber - a musical image of the "strongest tower" and forges a link to the spiritual symbolism of the "King of Kings".
The concert also marks the end of the 14th workshop and is the second workshop in the Brass Band MV's year of events. "We were able to try out the new program in January and the audience gave us enthusiastic feedback. We have added some new pieces to the program, but I am very much looking forward to the further detailed work on the typical brass band performance pieces. This detailed work is what makes the preparation for the typical scene competitions so special. Sharpening the individual musicians' eye for detail is an important aspect in the further development of the band, as the musicians mostly prepare on their own at home," says Timo Hänf, artistic director and conductor of Brassband MV.
"My personal highlight will be the duet between our two soloists Steffi Cleemann on flugelhorn and Martin Mempel on trombone. The arrangement of "Who wants to live forever" is tailor-made for the two of them. The way they play around each other during the piece will certainly inspire the audience as much as it did me. Goosebumps guaranteed!", reveals Florian Tornow, deputy chairman of the Brass Band MV.
The Brass Band MV cordially invites you to this spring concert and is looking forward to welcoming numerous guests.
Admission is free; a donation is requested at the exit.
