On November 11, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., the Working Group for Mecklenburg Church History invites you to the Grevesmühlen Museum for a book presentation on the end of the war in 1945 in Mecklenburg.
We are pleased to present the third volume of the situation reports from the church congregations, titled: “The End of the War in 1945 in the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Mecklenburg.” The volume covers the five western church districts: Wismar, Schwerin, Ludwigslust, Hagenow, and Schönberg. The Western Allies and the Red Army clashed in the Grevesmühlen area. According to current knowledge, Grevesmühlen was the last town in Mecklenburg-Schwerin to be occupied by the Western Allies. The publication project will be presented during the reading. Based on selected situation reports from the region and two previously unknown reports on the end of the war in Grevesmühlen, it becomes clear that the events of that time may have unfolded more dramatically than previously assumed.
Following the book presentation, there will be an opportunity to speak with the author.
Please register by November 6, 2026, at stadtmarketing@grevesmuehlen.de
The event is free of charge.
