Anna Silberstein and Karen Kunkel
Anna Silberstein has been exploring the world of the microcosm for many years. She is particularly interested in making the tiniest living environments and their symbiotic relationships visible, as well as in marveling at their mysteries.
Using her delicate and precise technique, she explores materials, creating transparencies, layers, and hidden elements. What is visible to the viewer depends largely on the angle of light and the viewer’s perspective.
Karen Kunkel works in a process-oriented and multidisciplinary manner, and for several years now has increasingly focused on the intersection of science and art. Her aim is to explore perceptions, states, structures, and processes. In doing so, she creates visual and spatial planes in which the rational and the emotional merge.
For her, immersing herself in synesthetic perceptions is more important than materialized end results, which emerge almost of their own accord during the process.
Both artists engage with complex structures. The results are not representations of reality. They are discoveries, motivated by a fascination with the diversity of forms and layers.
