Exhibition

Mari Meyer presents fluid art that explores the interplay between deliberate composition and the color’s own life—an exhibition about change and letting go.

We can make plans—and yet things often turn out differently. For Mari Meyer, this represents a life experience and, at the same time, the starting point for her artistic work.

Under the title “Im Werden Sein,” she exhibits paintings and fluid art. In her work, she applies liquid paint to the canvas. These flow toward one another, merge, or separate from one another. Mari Meyer sets the process in motion and guides it, but does not dictate every step. The material’s own life remains part of the work.

This gives rise to pictorial spaces composed of swaths of color, branching patterns, and cell-like structures. They may evoke landscapes, plants, or microscopic life forms without being clearly defined. Through the interplay of guiding and letting go, the paintings retain their openness.

Mari Meyer, born in 1961, brings a keen sense of material and movement to her work as a woodturner. Her path led her from wall installations and mosaics to experimental painting. She has lived in Bobzin since 2023, where she regularly participates in “Kunst Offen” and is one of the co-initiators of the Kunsthaus Lübz.

“Im Werden Sein” connects change and the present. Even the unfinished already possesses its own form; something new can emerge from an unexpected turn of events. In this way, Mari Meyer’s exhibition directly addresses the LUPINALE theme “Turning Point: Upheavals and Glimmers of Hope”: The upheaval lies in the movement; the ray of hope lies in the willingness to embrace it.
