An Evening of Theater Celebrating the Life and Work of Ernst Barlach

ERNST BARLACH (1870–1938) is one of the best-known German artists of the 20th century. After settling in Güstrow in 1910, his name became inextricably linked with Mecklenburg. As a sculptor, but also as a graphic artist, draftsman, and writer, he created significant works in the history of art.

Drawing on selected works by Barlach, moments from his life and the era in which he lived are linked to the present day. Drama, music, dance, and pantomime, combined with original texts from Ernst Barlach’s letters and writings, transport the audience into the increasingly troubled world of this outstanding artist.
