Orchestral Concert
Kit Armstrong has invited Johanna Summer, a jazz pianist whose background is rooted in the world of classical music—the perfect partner to improvise on Bach’s Double Concerto in C minor. A musical experiment framed by two masterpieces by Beethoven, the 200th anniversary of whose death falls this March. Armstrong’s plan to continually spin out musical ideas through improvisations throughout this spring festival and to engage them in an exciting dialogue with classical works reaches its first highlight this evening.
